Action description

Extend the index finger of one hand while the remaining four fingers are folded. Face the palm inwards and place the hand laterally. Slightly move the hand outwards and upwards to a halt. This sign indicates the first place in a sequence.

Example sentence

  • I am the youngest and Lao Wang is the oldest. Dr. Li is the second oldest. Lao Wang is 84 years old; Lao Li is 79 and I am 77.
  • Doctor Li is 79 years old. He is the oldest one among us. Lao Li is the second oldest and I am the third oldest. We are like brothers.
  • I was in the first grade when I was 8 years old. When I was 11, the air raids came. Study? No I was in Tainan. My teacher was Japanese. My school was in Tainan. I went to Tainan for study.
  • Where did my name come from (in sign language)? My surname is Li but I had a Japanese name and my surname was Matsuda. I didn't change my first name after Japan surrendered. However, I changed my surname back to Li.
